I recently purchased a Nest doorbell, and I was excited to get it set up with my Google Home but Nest Doorbell Won’t Connect to Google Home.

Then I started to connect it to Google Home and after finishing all the steps I realised that the doorbell is not connected. 

However, no matter what I did, the Nest doorbell wouldn’t connect to my Google Home. It was frustrating because I had already followed the correct process. 

So, after trying different troubleshooting techniques and spending hours researching online for solutions, I found several possible solutions.

In this article, I’ll walk you through all the steps I’ve tried when the Nest doorbell was not connecting to Google Home.

These are the possible solutions to fix the Nest doorbell when it is not connecting to Google Home.

Update Google Home App 

The first solution you should try to fix the Nest doorbell when it isn’t connecting to the Google Home app is to ensure it is up to date. 

Because the outdated app version can cause issues like connectivity problems or incorrect data. The manufacturers release the latest updates to resolve these issues or remove the app malfunctioning. 

If your Google Home app runs outdated, it will be the reason for this problem; you should update it to the latest version instantly. 

Here are steps to update the Google Home app: 

1. Open the Google Play Store app on your phone.

2. Tap on your profile icon from the top right corner.

3. Click on manage apps and devices.

4. And then select manage > tap on update available.

5. Here, choose the Google Home app from the list of apps, and an update will be installed. 

Clear App Caches 

Another common reason for your Nest doorbell not connecting will be caches stored on the Google Home app. 

So, you should check and clear all stored app cache that is causing problems. Also, you should force-quit the app, which will help you to refresh and restart the app. 

Here are the steps to force-quit the app and clear the cache. 

Force-Quit

1. Long press on the Google Home app icon from your mobile home screen. 

2. And then click on the app info option. 

3. You should click on Force Stop and tap ok.

1. Long press the app icon and tap on app info. 

2. Under the app info, click on Storage and Cache

3. Tap on clear cache

It will remove unnecessary data or app bugs and refresh the app to restart as it can work correctly. 

Reset the Doorbell  

You should also perform a factory reset for the doorbell to turn it back to its factory default settings. Resetting will remove all kinds of stored data, cache, and bugs from the doorbell software. 

You should also remember that resetting will wipe all of your stored footage from the app and back up your data before resetting. 

Here are the steps to reset your Nest doorbell: 

1. Unmount the doorbell from its mounting plate. 

2. Then press and hold the reset button from the rear cover of the doorbell for about 15 seconds.

3. Release the button once the status light turns solid after blinking four times. 

4. And then, when the doorbell reboots automatically, the reset is completed. 

Change Wi-Fi Settings

A few of the Nest products are incompatible with the 5Ghz network, which is why they do not connect to the Google Home app. 

So, you should read your Nest doorbell manual to ensure it supports one or dual band frequencies. 

If the doorbell only supports 2.4 GHz, you should change it by going through your router’s settings. 

Check Wi-Fi Connection 

Sometimes a slow or faulty Wi-Fi connection prevents the doorbell from connecting, and you should resolve your network connection to get the doorbell connected to Google Home. 

There might be several reasons causing a weak Wi-Fi connection, such as; software bugs, glitches, too much interference, or long distance. 

In this situation, you should remove all kinds of network interference in the way of your router and doorbell. 

Also, you should ensure the doorbell and router are placed closer to each other if the router is located away from it. You should reposition it and take it closer to the doorbell. 

On the other hand, power cycling and resetting also will be possible solutions to remove the Wi-Fi connection issues. 

Turn On the Visitor Announcement

If the doorbell is connected to the Google Home but not announcing on the Google Home Hub, it can be due to you not having enabled visitors announcement. 

If so, you can only manually check or answer the visitors. However, if the visitor’s announcements are enabled, Home Hub will automatically show your doorbell preview when events are recorded, or the doorbell is pressed. 

To enable visitor announcements, follow the steps below: 

1. Open the Nest app on your phone.

2. Then select the doorbell, and click on the gear icon from the top right corner.

3. In the settings, select Visitor Announcements
